Crossways Community Awards 2015

The second Crossways Community Awards were held on the 30th April 2015 in Crossways Village Hall. The Awards were to recognize the ‘unsung heroes’ and say thank you to those people and groups that have made an outstanding contribution to community life in Crossways. It was also the first year that a business had been nominated and won an Award – the business being Habitat First Group.

Crossways Parish Council Chairman, Cllr Andrew Brewer, presented each winner with a framed certificate marking their achievement.

Citations were read out for each winner and as District Councillor Peter Stein, Chair of the Judging Panel, said “ I was privileged to chair a panel of Councillors to decide those who were to receive recognition at the awards evening. The awards are for outstanding contributions to the life of the Crossways Community by people and groups who were providing a service or just quietly helping others. There are many others out there and we hope they too will be nominated for an award next year. Whether their contribution is quiet or conspicuous, it is so important that people are recognised and shown our appreciation"

Those receiving certificates were the Crossways Pantomimers, John Manuel, Don Shaw, Sandra Sewell, Suzanne Shaw, Colin Shaw, Roy Dean, Anthony Cooke, Rick Penberthy, Malcolm Jakes and Habitat First Group.

Unfortunately Tony Walton was not able to attend the presentations and arrangements have been made for him to receive his Award.

Thanks go to Paul Brewer for taking the photographs.
